BEST OF THE REST PICK
Take the Jacksonville Jaguars (+102, has since moved to +105))
To quickly reference my two previous forum post selections (Redskins & Steelers) located further down in the forum posts, the fact that the lines have moved from 5.5 to 6 is a good sign historically, and an indicator we are on the right side. Let's hope this movement continues in that direction :)
Before the season began, the team I selected to represent the AFC in this year's Super Bowl were the Jacksonville Jaguars (although I am not a fan). Their defense is lights out, and the only reason they lost the 2017 AFC championship game IMO was that they were unable to capture enough regular season wins to secure home field advantage throughout the AFC post season.
The Patriots are the most consistent winning team versus the spread over the past 15 years, and to go against them has been a death wish. They just find ways to win... all the time... and I am hopeful they will become an insignificant franchise in the near future, and for the next 20 years :) Can you tell I'm a Jets fan?
Blake Bortles is certainly not considered an elite QB in the NFL, but he has proven to be very competent, especially when RB Leonard Fournette is absent from the roster, going 3 - 0 in those contests. The fact is, if Blake is able to manage the game and not turn the ball over, then the Jags defense should be able to make things very difficult for the Patriots.
This game has now become a pick'em +105 for a Jacksonville selection, and with them being a viable competitor to win the AFC, these are paramount games they need to win in order to capture home field, and increase their odds of winning the AFC title.
It is very rare I feel confident when going against Bellichick, Brady, and the Patriots, but I think this is as good an occasion as any, and I will take the hosts to defeat the New England Patriots.
PREDICTION: Take the Jacksonville Jaguars (+102, has since moved to +105)
FINAL SCORE PREDICTION: New England Patriots 21, Jacksonville Jaguars 24
Good luck everyone this weekend :)
