Get ready for this entire board to be labeled "Canceled"... sports will not be coming back any time soon. This is obvious... especially when the US military has sent tanks, etc. to California & Mexican border along with 1,000,000+ military personnel being called up from reserves. Furthermore, NORAD has bunkered themselves in the Cheyenne Mountain Complex in Colorado. Will be getting much worse before any semblance of normal is returned to our societies. Don't like it, but these are the facts.

Per Jason Sobel:

The expected shakeup in this year’s golf calendar due to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced Monday, resulting in the potential for a Masters in November, the U.S. Open and Ryder Cup in back-to-back weeks and the cancelation of The Open Championship.

In a joint announcement from the PGA TOUR, European Tour, LPGA and the four governing bodies for the men’s major championships, professional golf could return as early as June 18, with three majors, the Ryder Cup and the FedEx Cup playoffs taking place within a 100-day span.

The announcement was made with the following provision: “We remain very mindful of the obstacles ahead, and each organization will continue to follow the guidance of the leading public health authorities, conducting competitions only if it is safe and responsible to do so.”

Still unclear is whether these tournaments would be played with spectators in attendance, limited fields or any other social distancing-related constraints.

However, a separate announcement was issued by Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley, who stated that if given consent from health officials, “We intend to invite those professionals and amateurs who would have qualified for our original April date and welcome all existing ticket holders to enjoy the excitement of Masters week.”

The flurry of Monday morning briefings began with news from the R&A that it would cancel The Open Championship for just the fourth time in a history which dates back to 1860.

Royal St. Georges, which was positioned as host course for this summer’s event, will instead be pushed back to next year, while St. Andrews will host the 150th edition of this tournament in 2022.

This is supposed to a gambling forum, stop bringing politics into the conversation. And there is now a POSSIBILITY that MLB could begin as early as May, which would be amaze-balls.

Tuesday, April 7: ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported that MLB is working on a plan that could have the season started as early as May, which would involve every team playing in Arizona in stadiums with no fans. Team personnel would live in “relative isolation” in Arizona hotels and be tested frequently, according to the report.

While such an extreme proposition would usually not get the support of players, Passan mentioned that the union might be swayed by 1) players actually getting paid their salaries (something that’s not happening right now with games suspended) and 2) the potential for expanded rosters “to account for the possibility of players testing positive despite the isolation, as well as to counteract the heat in Phoenix, which could grow problematic during the summer.”

There is nothing wrong with no fans, all that matters is the games going on so we can bet them.

Tuesday, April 14: A report from Golf Digest says the PGA TOUR will announce this week a plan to return on June 11 for the Charles Schwab Invitational in Ft. Worth, Tex. The event would not be played with fans in attendance.

Golf Digest’s report also references the TOUR’s plan for following weeks: the Charles Schwab (June 11-14) would be followed by RBC Heritage (June 18-21), Travelers Championship (June 25-28), Rocket Mortgage Classic (July 2-5), John Deere Classic (July 9-12), Memorial Tournament (July 16-19), 3M Open (July 23-26), WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational (July 30-Aug. 2).

From there, the schedule would pick up with what the TOUR announced last week: PGA Championship (Aug. 6-9), Wyndham Championship (Aug. 13-16), The Northern Trust (Aug. 20-23), BMW Championship (Aug. 27-30), Tour Championship (Sept. 3-7), U.S. Open (Sept. 17-20), Ryder Cup (Sept. 25-27), and the Masters (Nov. 12-15).

Tuesday, April 14: According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, UFC president Dana White is “deep in the process” of building out the organization’s pay-per-view return on May 9.

The fights White and UFC are targeting, per ESPN, are as follows: Tony Ferguson vs. Justin Gaethje, Henry Cejudo vs. Dominick Cruz (latter has publicly accepted invite), Amanda Nunes vs. Felicia Spencer (both publicly accepted), Francis Ngannou vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Jeremy Stephens vs. Calvin Kattar, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone vs. Anthony Pettis (verbally agreed), and six more matchups.

This report comes five days after requests from “the highest levels” of ESPN and Disney requested White postpone UFC 249, which was scheduled to take place on tribal lands in California this upcoming Saturday. (The New York Times reported the California Gov. Gavin Newsom called Disney officials and set the cancelation in motion.)

White declined to comment on where a potential May 9 card would take place.

Tuesday, April 14: Major League Soccer announced its initial plans to return by mid-May are “extremely unlikely.” The league also acknowledged that it will be difficult to finish an entire season’s worth of games given the timeframe it is now working with.

Thursday, April 9: ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who’s certainly plugged into all levels of football, reported on Thursday that there’s “strong conviction” among college football decision-makers that we’ll have a 2020 season. The start time is uncertain, but, Schefter reported, “they sound certain there still will be college football this season.”

Monday, April 20: We’re one step closer to getting an international soccer league back on the pitch. Germany’s Bundesliga is targeting a May 9 return. The New York Times had previously reported that the final nine games on each team’s schedule should be finished by the end of June.

The games will take place behind closed doors, with no fans in attendance. Germany’s ministry of health and the German Football League still need to approve the plan, but with clubs already back training, we appear to be well on our way to getting some top-flight football to bet on by May 9.

Friday, April 17: The NBA’s board of governors held a meeting on Friday, and commissioner Adam Silver said it’s still too early to give a more definitive timeline on when the league might return. “We are not even at the point where we can say if only A, B and C were met, then there is a clear path,” Silver said.

Many bubble-like scenarios — where the NBA would take over, say, LA or Las Vegas to finish this season — have been floated by those close to the league. “I’d say that in terms of bubble-like concepts, many of them have been proposed to us and we’ve only listened,” Silver said. “We are not seriously engaged yet in that type of environment because I can’t answer what precisely would we need to see in order to feel that that environment provided the needed health and safety for our players and everyone involved.”

Silver had previously said that the NBA won’t provide estimates or definitive return dates until at least the beginning of May.

Friday, April 17: NASCAR has officially canceled its May 9 event at Martinsville Speedway. A previous report from The Athletic stated that NASCAR is now eyeing the Coke 600 over Memorial Day weekend (May 24) as the earliest possible date the sport could return.
